Many students are fascinated by psychology courses and often take intro classes their freshman and sophomore years. This intensive will be a comprehensive overview of psychology including the history of the field, a review of major findings and will explore areas of current research. We will focus on classic study that has changed our understanding of human nature.

Coursework in the psychology summer camp will include the Human Brain, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Cognition, Developmental Psychology, and Learning and Development.

One of the most anticipated sections of our psychology summer camp will start with the question: “What does it mean to be abnormal?” We will discuss various mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive-disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, and other disorders. We will discuss various treatments for mental disorders, including traditional therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and new treatments like cognitive bias modification and mindfulness meditation. This psychology summer camp is going to be cool!

Another area of study in the psychology summer camp that will be very fun and illuminating will be our social psychology section. We will conduct experiments, using the campus population as our base. We will create social situations, make predictions as to how people will react, and then run and observe the situations in real-time. How will people react if a group of students come into their room and start studying? Or sit at their lunch table and not say a word? The possibilities are endless!
